Para al\u00e9m disso, o Vale das Furnas \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m conhecido pelas suas iguarias gastron\u00f3micas, como os bolos l\u00eavedos, as ma\u00e7arocas de milho, as queijadas de inhame e o curioso cozido das Furnas, onde os ingredientes s\u00e3o cozinhados debaixo da terra sob o calor dos vulc\u00f5es (a carne demora cerca de 5 a 6 horas e o bacalhau cerca de 3 a 4 horas), o que lhe d\u00e1 um sabor \u00fanico.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Furnas valley is also known for its gastronomic delicacies, such as the Bolos Levedos, the corn cobs, the Queijadas de Inhame (yam tarts) and the famous Cozido Furnas (meat and vegetable stew), where the ingredients are cooked underground under the heat of the volcano (the meat takes about 5 to 6 hours and the cod about 3 to 4 hours), which gives it a unique flavor.

  1. Terra Nostra Park<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Terra Nostra Park is a botanical garden, which features one of the largest collections of camellias in the world, having more than 600 different genres and also has Europe’s largest collection of Cycas.
    \nTerra Nostra Park was found in 1780, when the then Consul of the United States on the island of S\u00e3o Miguel, Thomas Hickling, had his summer residence built in this park, then known as Yankee Hall.
    \nMuch later, maintenance works were carried out in the Park\u2019s House and in the hot iron pool, brown in colour, whose temperature is around 25 degrees. The pool was lined with stone and new exotic plants were planted in order to increase the number of existing species.
    \nThis park was named several times one of the most beautiful in the world!<\/p>\n

    1. Po\u00e7a da Dona Beija<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      It\u2019s a magical place for leisure and relaxation, known for its therapeutic purposes and the production of yams.
      \nThere are currently 5 hot water pools, which can be enjoyed during the day or even at night, under the stars. It is a unique experience!
      \nThe high iron content of the thermal waters acts to combat anaemias, allergies, parasites and childhood acne. The mineral properties of the mud, that can be found in the pools of Po\u00e7a da Dona Beija, are recommended in Pelotherapy.<\/p>\n

      1. Lagoa das Furnas<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        The Furnas Lagoon is located in an old crater of the Furnas Volcano. On the north margin are located the hot springs, with temperatures ranging from 66 \u00b0 C to 93 \u00b0 C, some with mud and others with clear water. There is no projection of water, however they are constantly boiling. This is where the famous Cozido das Furnas is made.
        \nIts natural beauty can be appreciated through a walking tour around the lagoon, or you can rent a pedal boat and navigate its waters. You can also have a nice picnic on the margins and admire the beautiful landscape.
        \nStill on the margins of this lagoon is one of the most curious chapels on the island of S\u00e3o Miguel, dedicated to Nossa Senhora das Vit\u00f3rias and inaugurated on August 15, it was destined to be the Mausoleum of Jos\u00e9 do Canto.<\/p>\n

        1. Parque da Gren\u00e1<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Recently recovered, Parque da Gren\u00e1 served and even functioned, previously, as accommodation for those who wished to stay in one of the most incredible places on the island of S\u00e3o Miguel. The State thus acquired the entire property, which also has a forest park, a watercourse crossed by a bridge, a garden and an old mansion.
          \nParque da Gren\u00e1, which is located on the north margin of Furnas Lagoon, a property with 18 hectares of forest, can be visited by families and animals.<\/p>\n
